Kagan Confirmed

The Senate voted 63 to 37 to confirm Elena Kagan as the next Supreme Court justice. She is the fourth woman on the court - this is the first time three women are serving at the same time - and the sixth person who is not a white male.

The vote was mostly along party lines: all the Democrats except Ben Nelson voted for her, and all but five Republicans against.
